Version 1.0.1. Effective 18 May 2026.
Scope: these Terms of Service are the headline agreement between you and Sizoro. They sit at the top of a stack of policies that, together, govern your use of Sizoro on web and mobile. The companion policies are the Worker Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, the Cancellation and Refund Policy, the Dispute Policy, the Payment Policy, the Payout Policy, the Support Policy, and the Privacy Policy. Where any companion policy gives more detail on a topic, that companion policy governs that topic.
1. Who we are
Sizoro is a real-world domestic-services marketplace operating in South Africa. Sizoro is offered to South Africa-based users only at launch, in ZAR only, in English, isiZulu, and Afrikaans. The Information Officer for POPIA purposes can be contacted at support@sizoro.com. General support: support@sizoro.com.
2. Eligibility and accounts
To use Sizoro you must (a) be at least 18 years old; (b) be able to enter a binding agreement under South African law; (c) be based in South Africa; (d) provide accurate registration information; and (e) keep your sign-in details secure. You may use only your own account; account sharing, sale, transfer, and impersonation are prohibited. Sizoro may decline, suspend, or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, or any other Sizoro policy.
3. Roles
There are three roles: Employer (a person booking services for a home in South Africa), Worker (an independent service provider performing services through Sizoro — see the Worker Terms), and Admin (a Sizoro staff member with operational tools). Sizoro does not employ Workers. Workers are independent contractors on their own account; Sizoro does not deduct PAYE, UIF, SDL, or COIDA on a Worker's behalf.
4. What Sizoro provides
Sizoro provides a platform on which Employers can discover Workers, request bookings, communicate, pay through Paystack, receive a price breakdown, rate the service, and use a dispute mechanism. Sizoro is not the recipient of the service for any booking and does not guarantee that a particular Worker will accept a particular booking. Sizoro does not provide the service itself.
5. Pricing and fees
For every booking, Sizoro charges (a) a 5% Employer booking fee on the labour subtotal, and (b) a 5% Worker commission on the labour subtotal. Both are rounded up to the nearest whole rand using the shared pricing helper in `@sizoro/shared-utils`. Tips are passed through 100% to the Worker, are not subject to commission, and are not rounded. The full price breakdown is shown to the Employer before payment in line with section 49 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. The Payment Policy explains payment flow, refunds, and tax invoices.
6. Custody of funds; Sizoro is not a bank
When the Employer pays through Paystack, Sizoro holds the funds in temporary payment custody until the booking has completed its 48-hour dispute window or the Employer confirms completion (whichever is earlier), at which point Sizoro records the amount as a payable owed to the Worker in the Worker's earnings ledger. Worker earnings are not stored value and cannot be transferred between users. Sizoro is not a bank, does not take deposits, and is not a regulated lending or financing institution. The Payout Policy explains how Worker earnings reach the Worker's South African bank account.
7. Cancellations, disputes, and consumer rights
Cancellation tiers and Worker strikes are governed by the Cancellation and Refund Policy. After-the-fact complaints are governed by the Dispute Policy. The Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 — including the implied warranty in section 56 — applies. Nothing in these Terms limits a consumer's rights under that Act.
8. Acceptable use; safety; off-platform bookings
Use Sizoro lawfully and respectfully. The Acceptable Use Policy is part of these Terms. Off-platform bookings, fee avoidance, harassment, discrimination, impersonation, false reviews, fraud, technical abuse, and unlawful conduct are prohibited and may lead to suspension or termination.
9. Identity verification
Workers and Employers may be required to complete identity verification through our identity verification partner. International identity verification is not yet supported in MVP; applicants without an SA ID are placed on a waitlist. Sizoro may re-verify identity at any time.
10. Privacy
Sizoro processes personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). The Privacy Policy sets out what we collect, why, with whom we share it, retention, your rights, and how to contact the Information Officer. By using Sizoro you confirm that you have read the Privacy Policy.
11. Suspension and termination
Sizoro may suspend or terminate access to Sizoro for breach of these Terms or any companion policy, to protect users or comply with law, or because Sizoro discontinues a feature or the service. Workers' earnings already accrued for completed bookings remain payable subject to the Payout Policy and any lawful set-off for proven loss. Either party may terminate the relationship at any time by deactivating the account, subject to any open booking, dispute, refund, or payout obligations.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sizoro's aggregate liability to any user under or in connection with these Terms is limited to the lesser of (i) the total amount of Sizoro fees you have paid to Sizoro (or, for Workers, the total commission Sizoro has earned from your bookings) during the three (3) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim and (ii) ZAR 5,000. Nothing in this clause limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited under the Consumer Protection Act, POPIA, or any other compulsory provision of South African law, including but not limited to liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
13. Intellectual property
Sizoro owns the Sizoro name, logo, software, and the platform itself. You retain rights in content you upload (photos, descriptions, reviews) and grant Sizoro a non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable licence to host, display, and adapt that content for the purpose of operating and marketing Sizoro.
14. Service availability
We aim to keep Sizoro available, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, change features, or change service providers. Where a change is material to your use, we will tell you in-app or by email at least 14 days in advance unless the change is required for safety or compliance.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified through the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. The version of these Terms in force on your registration (or your most recent acceptance) is the version that applies to you.
16. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. We will first try to resolve any complaint through Sizoro Support — see the Support Policy. External recourse is available under (a) the Consumer Protection Act through the National Consumer Commission and the National Consumer Tribunal; (b) POPIA through the Information Regulator; and (c) the South African courts. The Magistrate's Courts of South Africa have jurisdiction up to the prescribed monetary limit, and the Small Claims Court is available within its threshold. No clause in these Terms requires you to arbitrate or waive your statutory rights.
17. Notices and contact
